Texters stay on top

No Chot and Ali? No problem.
TNT: all they do is win

True to form, the Talk 'n' Text Tropang Texters (6-2) dispatched the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (3-5) in an out of town game after breaking out in the second quarter for good.

Both teams started sluggishly, probably trying to get a feel of the court and/ or trying to impress the local crowd. The telling point of course, was when Gabe Norwood and Paul Lee sat down, and Jimmy Alapag pretty much took over in two plays.

A nice pass to Larry Fonacier for an open three, then making his own three-ball courtesy of a Ryan Reyes assist. There was pretty much nothing the E-Painters could do from there on, with players coming in at waves-- hell, even Ranidel de Ocampo dusted off his jumping-Jack, St. Francis of Assisi sneakers and posterized the tattoos off JayR Quinahan.

If this is what we're looking at, the core of SMART Gilas 2, then we're in pretty good hands. Larry Fonacier was red hot from deep, Jayson Castro kept the E-Painters' guards guessing where he was driving from and Ryan Reyes was hustling like a takatak boy in the middle of Quezon Ave. traffic.

Import Donnel Harvey also pulled through, this time on the offensive end where he proved to be too much of a load for the E-Painters' Duke Crews. Crews tries his best to make up for his lack of height, but Harvey showed him how it's done (they're both in the 6"7-6"8 range, one of the rare occasions that Crews finds himself eyeball-to-eyeball with his opponent).

What's next for the Texters? Well, other than Peek, they're pretty healthy and have a roster that's the most interchangeable offensively and defensively.

For the E-Painters? It's time to make a change. Jeffrei Chan and RonJay Buenafe at the shooting guard position isn't working. Ryan Arana is also there, but in coach Yeng Guiao's oddball of an offense he's stuck at small forward (undersized in the PBA).

Also, for the love of God, stick Paul Lee at PG and Gabe Norwood at SF and end this madness. Roel Nadurata do something and tell your boy Yeng to go traditional for one full game and see what happens.

P.S.

Bomberman is a too reminiscent of our moniker for Gary David aka KKS Bataan Bomber, so let's change it to something more Quinito/Mico Halili-esque. From here on out, we refer to the E-Painters' Jeffrei Chan as Trigger-Chan. Yeah. Like a boss.
