Here comes the boom

Welcome to Junemar's world

Last season, the San Miguel Beermen were finally able to put it all together.

They brought in a true player's coach in Leo Austria, finally bought into the "less is more" mindset and let go of some more star caliber players for role playing ones and basically streamlined their offense to Junemar Fajardo 1, everyone else 2.

The end result? Two championships in three conferences.

This coming seasom, the Beermen only strengthened their rotation by adding burly sophomore point guard Brian Heruela who could easily give both Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross a run for their money. Heruela was the lone bright spot last year for Blackwater, and even if they didn't have the scorers or finishers, Heruela managed to be atop the assists statistics which should give you an idea of how skilled he really is given the mediocre talent to work with.

Then, they also got Ryan Arana for almost nothing from Rain or Shine. If you thought having to deal with a rejuvenated Ronald Tubid wasn't enough, well, here comes another scrappy and pesky defender who can drop buckets.

What? The 2x PBA MVP Junemar Fajardo hurt his foot?

Arwind Santos will get a lot of burn again at the 4 spot this Philippine Cup. Marcio Lassiter is starting to look like a splash brother. Alex Cabagnot is back on track.

If they can get Chris Lutz in the mix, they'll be almost invincible.

Grand Slam?

Last year was too early. This year, as a popular kalyeserye would put it, seems to be #tamangpanahon.

The only way the Beermen could lose track this season? Injuries. If Coach Tim Cone manages to get Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter to play up to par. If Fajardo and Lassiter fully commit to Gilas 4.
