This could've and should've been prevented outright by the Energy had they managed to hold on to their 17-point in-game lead. Of course, Coach Junel Baculi and his boys led by a motivated Danny Seigle will take the W and it's not everyday that you can weather a 40-point explosion from Bolts import Mario West.
For the Energy to advance they need to first beat the Tigers who are always a threat to pull huge upsets given their unforgiving style of high-offense basketball. The Energy's stars will need to be focused and ready (which isn't always the case with Seigle and 2x PBA MVP Willie Miller). It will be nice to see how the match-up between ex-Ateneo teammates Doug Kramer and Rabeh Al Hussaini unfold in the post. Safe to say that despite being limited offensively, Kramer has been able to establish himself in the pros while Al Hussaini waddles in his own immaturity and medicority.
With import Leroy Hickerson providing much of the scoring, they only need steady performances from the locals to advance to the next match (versus the Bolts). Don't expect much since this team has been pretty inconsistent and will have to once again pray to the stars that their old veterans still have some fight left in the tank to go deeper into the Governor's Cup.
Perhaps management can start coming up with something creative for next season in order to balance their two PBA teams (under the notion that they're here to compete of course and not serve as trade conduits for bigger teams). The Energy has all the experience in the world, while sister team Air21 Express has the young legs that need some more veteran leadership.
On a side note, Leo Najorda is this team's best player on both ends who will put up numbers given the minutes and he's being wasted on the bench.
