Business is about to pick up for Alaska

Though we mourn the death of what could've been another classic and entertaining grudge match between the San Beda Red Lions and the San Sebastian Recoletos Golden Stags for the NCAA championship, the painful reprieve allows us the chance to finally see this year's most magnetic draft pick strut his wares in the PBA.

We're talking about no one else but the Stags' Calvin "The Beast" Abueva.

The obvious vital cog to the Alaska Aces' rebuilding and re-imaging approach to this season is finally done with his collegiate commitments and, as posted earlier by Ms CK Kanapi, has signed on the dotted line for the Aces. How badly does Aces Head Coach Luigi Trillo want Abueva to suit up? Think this Friday versus Petron. That's how much Coach Luigi and just about any Filipino basketball fan, casual or hardcore, want to see Abueva wearing a jersey with the letters PBA emblazoned on it.
Here are some of the things that Abueva has proven, over the years spent with the Stags, that he can and cannot do:

Can's 
- Play with maximum energy. Like Rudy Hatfield and Cliff Hodge but with Mac Mac Cardona's vile and venomous swagger
- Rebound like Terry Saldana
- Play lockdown defense from players 1 through 5
- Score at will within the painted area
- Finish strong at the basket be it via dunks or crazy flip shots
- Create
- Dribble forward
- Make the kick-out or inside pass

Cant's
- Keep his temper/ composure
- Make sound basketball judgments
- Stay on the court when played aggressively/ physically
- Shoot 3s to save his life
- Shoot Js with consistency
- Dribble sideways
- Pass out of heavy traffic
- Follow his coach's orders
- CAN'T and SHOULDN'T be allowed to dominate the basketball to the point wherein he masquerades as a PG

Which position should Abueva play with the Aces? Should he be kept as a 6th man type, power forward or be the guy who supplants Cyrus Baguio or Tony de la Cruz at the 2/3?

And on a sick side note, sino ang unang reresbak kay Abueva? Si "The Nut Cracker" Marc Pingris? Ang Extra Rice, Inc. boys ba?
