2015 PBA Mock Draft V 2.0

Top 5 sleeper

Remember when we said that it was a bit early to be writing about the 2015 PBA Draft, given the scarcity of names that are sure to apply? Well, we are starting to hear more and more of young, collegiate talent that are foregoing their final UAAP/NCAA years if only to try their luck at the pros (UE's Roi Sumang being the biggest newsmaker to date).

Just bear in mind that the PBA Draft order isn't final (we'll know at season's end) but here's more or less something to work with (thanks to that PBADraft website whose owner I don't know, but props to him/ her).

Let's go.

12. Rain or Shine Elastopainters - Aljon Mariano, 6"3
Gabe Norwood has no legitimate back-up (or competition) at the 3 spot. Mariano is slow, but he has the fundamentals which will make him useful in a system like Guiao's. The new Larry Rodriguez/ Ronnie Matias.

11. Blackwater Elite (from Talk'n'Text) - Scottie Thompson, 6"0
The scorer the Elite desperately needs. Rebounds very well for a guard.

10. San Miguel Beermen - Norbert Torres, 6"6
Homer pick. Iba ang may pinagsamahan.

9. Purefoods Star Hotshots - Glenn Khobuntin, 6"4
Hard-nosed, blue-collar and young big man with some range. Ian Sangalang back-up. Think of the two as your future Kerby-Pingris tandem. Raw, but has tons of potential.

8. Alaska Aces -  Maverick Ahanmisi, 6"2
Chris Banchero and Ahanmisi as the Aces' backcourt of the future. We have no problems with this one. Turns their backcourt from JV (Casio + Jazul) to Varsity-level size-wise.

7. NLEX Road Warriors - Baser Amer, 6"0
Finally, a healthy point guard for Coach Boyet Fernandez.

6. Meralco Bolts - Chris Newsome, 6"2
Homer pick for Coach Norman Black. Can learn from the shooters (Gary David, John Wilson, Mark Macapagal) while also playing behind Jared Dillinger. Athletic. Chris Ellis II.

5. Rain or Shine Elastopainters - Roi Sumang, 5"8
Gut feel. Basically, a Kevin Alas do-over much like Jericho Cruz: Alex Nuyles. Polee to slide to the 2 spot. Bahala na sila TY, Chris at Jonathan mag away sa PG spot kasama si Sumang.

4. Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (from Barako Bull) - Garvo Lanete, 6"1
Homer pick for Coach Frankie Lim, but well-deserved. Shooter. Clutch. FIBA veteran. PBA ready. The true shooter that Ginebra is missing. Urbiztondo doesn't count.

3. Meralco Bolts - Troy Rosario, 6"7
6"7, athletic with range. Needs to work on being consistent and a lot more aggressive if he's to make an impact in the PBA. 7 points and 5 rebounds average in the UAAP doesn't cut it, but potential is undeniable.

2. Kia Carnival - Moala Tautuaa, 6"7
Don't believe the hype. If Tautuaa's as strong and good as advertised, we haven't really heard of a 20-20 game from him. Or a triple double. Or anything newsworthy outside of just "switching teams to get ready for the PBA business side of things." Kia needs a new big with the departure of Reil Cervantes, Tautuaa is just the man/ monster for the job.

1. Talk 'n' Text Tropang Texters (from Blackwater) - Ray Ray Parks, Jr., 6"4
A future starting five of: Jayson Castro, BRPJr., MGR, RdO and Kelly/JWash. Pwedeng TNT. Pwedeng Gilas. Your argument is invalid.
