2016 PBA Mock Draft Version 2

The good: we did the freaking 40%, 30%, 30% math for this one based on how each team finished in the each of the three conferences.

The bad: we used the standings, and not the actual order of finish, so there is definitely room for error. Also, we did not consider the traded picks and all of that because quite frankly, we are too lazy at the moment to do any research (promise to fix it by version 3).

The ugly: You, we, only have Teams MVP and San Miguel to blame as they always trade draft picks.
Does this change the order of draftees from our Version 1? Yes, it does. Because we are going with who we feel are the most logical choices for each team and not just simple starpower.

Let’s go.

13 Hapee - Von Pessumal, SG, 6”2
Still, James Yap II.

12 San Miguel - Ed Daquioag, SG, 6”0
There is really not much of an immediate need for Daquioag, other than adding a young buck who could be groomed to provide ample firepower in limited minutes. Basically, Bonbon Custodio 2016.

11 Alaska - Roger Pogoy, SF, 6”3
A Cebuano shooter playing for Alaska, sound familiar?

10 Rain or Shine - Louie Vigil, SF, 6”3
If Jericho Cruz was the Alex Nuyles do-over, then Louie Vigil is Jeric Teng’s. Big, aggressive, has high basketball IQ, some range AND plays tough defense. If Ginebra didn’t have Aljon Mariano and Nico Salva on board, we’d have put him up one spot.

9 Ginebra – Julian Sargent, SF, 6”4
Something tells us that the DLSU ties plus Sargent’s skillset, athleticism and growing reputation as a defender is something that Coach Tim Cone will find hard to pass up.

8 TNT - Mike Tolomia, PG, 5”11
The Castro understudy arrives.

7 NLEX - Jio Jalalon, PG, 5”10
Finally, a natural (and ultra-talented) point guard for Coach Boyet Fernandez; if he’s still around, that is.

6 Globalport - Russel Escoto, C, 6”6
There are talented guards left in the Draft, but GP doesn’t really need ANOTHER scorer now do they? Not with team consultant Franz Pumaren at the helm, he’ll most likely try to balance the team out and say, add a mobile big man (Jay Washington’s eventual replacement) who can play defense.

5 Meralco – Kevin Ferrer, SF, 6”4
Meralco needs a floor spacer after Jimmy Alapag, the current roster tries their best (specifically Baser Amer, Jared Dillinger and Chris Newsome), but adding Ferrer would solve those issues easily. It also doesn’t hurt their rotation since Ferrer can slide anywhere from positions 2, 3 and 4.

4 Mahindra - Mac Belo, PF, 6”5
A Belo- L.A. Revilla, pick and roll/ pop combination is going to be lethal.

3 Phoenix – Kiefer Ravena, SG, 6”0
Well there you have it folks, instant “face of the franchise” thanks to STAR going all homer with Van Opstal. What can’t Ravena do at the guard position? He can score, his strength and conditioning is top notch and if you don’t watch it, he could even dunk on your sorry noggin’ (just ask former UST Tiger Karim Abdul).

2 STAR – Arnold Van Opstal, C, 6”8
Because you can’t teach height… but we are going to spell it out for you: S A DUBYA F T SSSSSSAAAAAWWWFFFTTTT!

1 Blackwater Elite - Ray Ray Parks, Jr., 6”4
The Chosen One.
Next... A 2016 PBA Draft WITHOUT the Gilas Cadets. AND The Gilas Cadets Dispersal Draft (should one ever be held).
